The Real Deal reports that Hillary and Bill Clinton are renting an East Hampton home for a little rest and relaxation. The oceanfront property belongs to real estate mogul Elie Hirschfeld. The Clintons rented the home last summer, too, but are probably in even greater need of a beach vacation. Over the past year, the globe-trotting Mrs. C became the all-time air-mile logger of all U.S. secretaries of state.

The New York Times reports on a 1982 real estate investment deal that turned sour for Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. It?s an interesting slice of Romney?s pre-Bain Capital days. He wound up holding a mortgage for the couple who rented one of his five Houston area investment properties. Romney called the renters himself to make an offer. They accepted.
Mass housing via giant computer printer
Core 77 Design Magazine & Resource and bloggers at Dvice?and Popsci?were taken with an amazing project that would allow a gigantic 3-D printer to ?print out? real houses. The work is by Behrokh Khoshnevis of Contour Crafting. The printer could pour out a concrete home in 20 hours. The idea is to minimize the cost and waste issues associated with construction and to bring efficient manufactured house-building technology to the 1 billion people in the world who are living in slums and other forms of sub-standard shelter.
