From finding out I was diabetic by nearly falling into a coma to my kidney disease diagnosis, my life isn?t always easy. ?When you add high blood pressure, thyroid disease, epilepsy, and my obesity, the equation doesn?t look good. ?Honestly, it?s overwhelming at times. ?However, there is no reason for me to spend my good days worrying or stressing over things that I can?t control! ?I won?t let anyone steal my joy or stop me from making memories that my kids can cherish for the rest of their lives.?Yes, I do worry about where this road leads. ?But, more than that, I worry where it will leave my husband and children. ?What type of burden will I be? ?Will I leave them in a financial bind, should I die? ?Who will fill my shoes in the many areas that I am proud to stand in?
That?s where?Weinberger Law Group can help. ?There are legal issues that need to be addressed by all parents but especially those with chronic illnesses.
My husband has a history of heart disease in his family. ?He?s already on medications for high blood pressure. ?His father has had bypass surgeries, heart attacks, and a stint placed into an artery. ?Again, the future doesn?t look so great. ?So, we do what we can to control the things that we are able. ?We have stopped smoking. ?We are working on losing weight, eating healthier and getting exercise. ?We have to realize that we are not getting any younger. ?So, we will take vitamins and supplements and make sure that all of the things that we can improve, are improved!
But what if?
I don?t live my life according to the what if?s but, I do have to think about and prepare for things that may come. ?Things like dialysis, kidney transplant, etc.
I have health and life insurance. ?That, in itself, is a burden that is lightened. ?But, we also are going to sit down and work on living wills, powers of attorney, and other legal matters that need to be addressed. ?These are the best things that we can do for our children. ?No parent wants to be a burden on their children. ?Please take the time to think into the future and what could happen if you were to become ill or die. ?What would your children be left with? ?Memories made or making medical decisions?
